would it be possible to make roof tile in to a solar panel?

if roof tiles were made of solar panel materials at a similar cost as an normal roofing tile or slate it would be easy for the government to meet its carbon footprint and cut green house gas.
if 1 tile made 0.5volts then just think how much power a house or street could make.
sell the excess back to the power grid saving the consumer cash.
i just cant find out the costs for a solar cell.

Hi John

I know how hard it is to cut down power costs especially if you are on
a tight budget and on pre power.

I think it’s disgusting how much the power companies charge you and
after reviewing last months power budget ($300) I decided to research alternative methods of reducing my power bill.

I came across this website it shows you how to build your own solar panels for less than $100. I think that is better than spending $300 a month.

There are heaps of helpful hints and they even show you how to build
a wind turbine. I also read some really good stories about people that have had success using this method for building their own solar panels.

if anyone here has used this please let me know what you think and how it has worked for you.

So far I have only heard great things and I think it’s worth testing this method to lower your power bill and be free of those power companies.

Certainly can be done, and for those who have normal roof tiles, there is a plastic type film that can be laid out over the roof, but it is rather expensive. Anyway the amount of electricity that can be produced on a domestic roof is nothing like sufficient to run a single household.

The amount of power reaching the solar panels on space craft is about 1350 watts per square metre. This will be reduced considerably for terrestrial mounted panels by the atmosphere, (I measured just 900 watts/sqm in cloudless Saudi Arabia) and as current types of panels are only about 20% efficient, and only work in daylight when there is not too much cloud, it would be a very inefficient and expensive method of generating power, and in a UK block of flats, where the amount of roof space against the number of households would make it utterly impractical.

Better to use wind turbines than photovoltaic panels, but reliability is a key issue, and so is constant daylight and wind, if it is to be a standalone installation. Perhaps in the future, housing estates will all have their own wind turbines, and we shall become so accustomed to seeing them, that there will be no great objections to massive offshore windfarms either, but photovoltaic is VERY expensive and horribly inefficient!

Passive heating and cooling are also things to be considered …

By the way, I have good news for you. With the rising cost of electrical bills, there are many different ways for alternative homemade energy so that you can provide your own electricity. The 2 ways that I highly recommend is through DIY solar energy and wind energy. Such renewable sources are economical and environmentally friendly to tap on.

For the DIY solar energy, you can easily install a solar panel to obtain the energy to power your household needs. And such homemade energy solution is not difficult to build. In fact, you can find the materials in any hardware store down the streets. They are inexpensive also; you can easily buy them for less than $200.

An alternative homemade energy that you can consider during cloudy days is the wind energy. During days like this, your DIY solar energy would not be able to provide you with much energy. And you can consider building your very own windmills in your backyard. And the cost of building a windmill is even cheaper than the solar panels. And with the right guide, you can easily build both and get started with generating your own electricity.

Such DIY solar energy and windmills are easy ways for you to tap on the natural resources. In fact, you can play your part in saving mother Earth by not using too much coal energy. Such homemade energy is the best method for you to save money.

In fact, if you are good at generating homemade energy with DIY solar energy and windmills, you can even generate extra energy which will flow back into the grid. And your electrical company is actually obliged to pay you for generating extra energy for them!

Now you can build your own home-made wind generator or solar powered panels following a simple step-by-step guide with everyday materials and save hundreds of dollars on monthly power bills and help the environment.
