Am in AZ. Have a solar hot water system now.
Saved me 40 bucks per month.Cost was the same as a Home Depot regular electric water heater install. Now with new Federal tax credits, this will be my next install. Will reduce my e bill to zero. A much better investment that putting money in stocks, cd’s, etc.

    Thats changing …
Thats changing everyday. 10 years from now it will be the norm. Just as USB, Sata drivers, laptops, LCD screens in place of CRT, hybrids, fully electric drive cars, underground geothermal air conditioning, dual pain glass windows, solar heating, instant electrical water heaters, and on the lost goes on.

Each I mention were once naysayed. Look at them now. All main stream.

Solar seems like a good option, But when you look at the cost of the systems, and the end payoff for the units, You are looking at at least 10 years before you get any benefit.
New and better solar is around the corner.
If you want to go green Cut your electric use.
Eliminate ghost power and use cfc bulbs, I have 2000 sq ft our average bill is $65.

No, Personally, I realise that Feng shui is the ancient chinese art of removing money from the easily fooled, so frankly, if he’d used his solar power to reduce his fossil fuel consumption, i reckon that would have been a better move, but hey, its his choice and good luck to him. Why would i be “jealous much” ? – because i dont have a feng shui waterfall ?

For what its worth, we took the water pumping off-the-grid. We have 1KW of solar to batteries to 24v pumps.

The flowing water is actually very cool and now that it lucky solar water!

    3KW Solar …
    3KW Solar installation – fantastic.

Pissing all that power away on an ornamental waterfall – probably one of the daftest uses i’ve seen.

Its amazing that folks can be so fortunate, and yet so completely devoid of common sense.

    I think solar …
I think solar electricity is the coolest thing. I own one panel the size of the panels being mounted which is 50 watts 14 volts at 3 amps. I have a few small ones too and used to charge up a car battery with it and run a power inverter in the house for fun and run the tv for 6 hours before it died. not quick enough charging for the run time though. this application here is needed. lots of money but pays itself off and gives dividends over time.
